RAC Approved. What it means for you.
Independent inspection. Real accountability behind the badge. A trusted name standing behind every job we book in.
What "RAC Approved" actually means
The RAC Approved Garages scheme is a UK-wide network of independent garages that have signed up to a written code of practice and agreed to be independently inspected against it. The badge on the door is not a logo we bought. It is a standard we are held to, year after year.
In short: a third party is checking up on us so you do not have to.
What we have to do to keep the badge
- Adhere to the RAC code of practice for garages
- Employ qualified technicians and keep their training current
- Quote transparently before work begins, and explain the bill afterwards
- Keep our workshop, equipment and documentation up to RAC standards
- Be willing to be inspected at any time, and address findings in full
- Co-operate with the RAC if a customer ever raises a complaint
How the inspection works
An independent assessor visits the workshop on a recurring basis. They look at the bays, the diagnostic kit, the paperwork, customer records, and the way we present quotes. Where they find anything that needs tightening, we have a window to put it right. No tighten, no badge.
The point is simple: a garage cannot quietly drift into bad habits while still calling itself RAC Approved.
What this means for you when you book in
- Vetted workmanship. Someone outside our business has confirmed we know what we are doing
- Transparent pricing. No surprise add-ons at collection, no padding
- An escalation route. If something goes wrong and we cannot put it right between us, you have the RAC to fall back on
- A standard of customer care we have signed up to in writing, not just promised verbally
Why we joined the scheme
Plenty of independent garages do good honest work and never join a scheme. We respect that. We chose to join the RAC scheme specifically because we wanted somebody other than us standing behind our quality claims. It is one thing to say we do good work. It is another to put our name forward for outside inspection and answer for it.
Twenty years in, that accountability matters to us. We would rather be checked.
